It has been pointed out to me that your use of some html formatting conventions does cause some display problems on some browsers. It has been said that in Opera (Linux)   looks like empty bar (with the border), for instance. For the most part there is no need for html formatting tags, and they should be avoided as far as possible. Please put a "Watch this page" on Typographical_Guidelines and ask if you are unsure about the use of any html tags.
