Ark é un aplicativo que permite xestionar arquivos de ficheiros.

Funcionalidades

Ark permite:

Crear arquivos comprimidos.
Visualizar os contidos de arquivos.
Extraer os contidos de arquivos.

É capaz de traballar con moitos formatos, entres eles tar, gzip, bzip2, zip, rar e 7z.

Crear un arquivo

Files can be added to form the archive using the Archive menu
Alternatively files can be dragged from a Konqueror or Dolphin window into the main Ark window
Also on the Archive menu is Add Folder which can pull a whole directory into the archive
Files can be added to a saved archive at any time.

Extraer ficheiros

Para isto é para que o utiliza case todo o mundo por vez primeira.

Se ten un ficheiro seleccionado, preguntaráselle se quere extraer só dito ficheiro ou se quere extraelos todos.
O arquivo permanece completo, non se altera, e o ficheiro seleccionado sitúase no directorio que vostede decida.

O funcionamento da extracción cambiou nas últimas versións, algo que notaran especialmente os antigos usuarios de KDE 3. Hai dúas formas de controlar a extracción.

Cando se está a visualizar un arquivo dende Ark', empregue o botón de Extraer que hai na barra de ferramentas ou o atallo predeterminado, Ctrl-E. Aparecerá unha árbore de ficheiros na que poderá escoller o directorio de destino.
Cando de está a visualizar o arquivo dende Dolphin, prémao co botón dereito para obter as seguintes tres opcións:
- Extraer aquí, detectar o cartafol
- Extraer a…
- Extraer aquí

A segunda opción funciona igual que o atallo predeterminado Ctrl-E desde Ark.
A terceira fai tal e como indica, se dentro do arquivo non se define ningún cartafol, os ficheiros extráense no directorio actual. En caso contrario, crearase o cartafol dentro do actual, e extraeranse nel os ficheiros.
A terceira opción é similar á primeira, salvo que en caso de non existir cartafol dentro do arquivo, Ark creará un, e extraerá logo nel os ficheiros. Por exemplo, se o arquivo se chama patróns.zip e contén todos os deseños, a estrutura quedaría como «~/patróns/deseño1», etc.

Traballar con ficheiros

Very often an archive will contain a README or some other instruction file. It is often useful to be able to preview that file before starting work with the archive. Double click any file in archive will open preview.
It may be that one file in an archive becomes irrelevant. The file can be deleted within the archive.
It is also possible to Open with any suitable application and edit the file (if the archive is not read-only).
