I have marked it "Do not invalidate translations" as I think it unlikely that translators would have copied the mistake, which means that my change will not show up on the list of changes that translators see in Special:LangguageStats.

Not directly. What others do is to create a new template - Template:Community-app-footnote/de with the localisation. Don't forget that it's one of a pair :-)
