Amarok is een muziekspeler van de KDE-gemeenschap

Amarok is een gratis, cross-platform, veelzijdige en krachtige muziekspeler met vele functies. Het maakt eenvoudig beheer van je muziek collectie mogelijk, haalt automatisch informatie en cd hoezen op en heeft ingebouwde integratie van diensten als Jamendo, Last.fm, Magnatune en Librivox. Het kan ook volledig aangepast worden, zodat gebruikers altijd een muziekspeler hebben die perfect is voor hun behoeften. De laatste release is versie 2.3.1

==Interface

Amarok heeft normaal een interface opgebouwd uit drie panelen.

Het linker paneel (Media bronnen)

In het Media bronnen paneel aan de linker kant heb je toegang tot je lokale muziek collectie, maar ok tot andere diensten: Lokale Muziek bovenaan, dat de primaire interface is voor je lokale collectie, en aangesloten media zoals mp3 spelers en CDs. Er is een deel voor alle Internet Diensten die u heeft aangezet. Hier kunt u zoeken door lijsten radio stationen en podcasts; luister ernaar of meld je aan, gebruik je last.fm account, koop muziek in online winkels zoals Magnatune, download muziek van onafhankelijke artiesten via Jamendo, of kies uit een van de andere diensten. In Het Afspeellijsten kan je Dynamische Afspeellijsten maken en gebruieken, toegang krijgen tot je Opgeslagen Afspeellijsten en gebruik maken van de Automatische Afspeellijst Generator. In het Bestanden deel kan je gebruik maken van de ingebouwde verkenner en in het Podcasts deel kan je de podcasts die je volgt luisteren.

Het middelste paneel

Dit is waar alle informatie word getoond. Het middelste paneel bevat 3 applets die worden dynamisch worden aangepast om informatie weer te geven over het liedje dat nu word afgespeelt. Je kan de waardering en score zien, en ook hoe vaak je het liedje hebt afgespeelt. De Lyrics applet laat de songtext van het huidige lied zien en er is een applet om informatie over de artiest te krijgen van Wikipedia. Meer applets kunnen worden toegevoegd, verwijderd of ander gesoorteerd met de applet bar onder aan het paneel.

Het rechter paneel (Afspeellijst)

Amarok heeft de meest configureerbare afspeellijst van alle muziekspelers die er bestaan. Het geeft U de mogelijkheid om deze vorm te geven zoals jij dat het beste vind. Om te beginnen, zijn er 3 standaard afspeellijst lay-outs die U kunt gebruiken als startpunt voor het creeëren van lay-out die geheel aan uw wensen aan te passen. Je kan een afspeellijst dynamisch laten genereren met verschillende basissen, of met de automatische afspeelijst generator, willekeurig afspelen of herhalen, liedjes in de wachtrij zetten en huidige lijsten bewaren voor later.

Functies

Muziek Afspelen

Amarok ondersteunt de meeste populaire formaten voor muziekbestanden. De ondersteunde formaten hangen af van de codecs en het audiobackend die uw systeem gebruikt. Daarnaast is er ondersteuning voor afspeellijsten — u kunt zoveel afspeellijsten maken, opslaan en laden als u wilt.

Apparaat ondersteuning

Amarok biedt ondersteuning voor een grote verscheidenheid aan media-apparaten, zoals iPods, MTP- en UMS-apparaten.

De knop Merge View bovenaan de collectie laat u collecties samenvoegen. Dit betekent dat liedjes uit uw lokale collectie, van uw audio-CD, mp3-speler enzovoorts samen in één gebundelde collectie getoond zullen worden. Met deze knop kunt u ook weer makkelijk terugggaan naar het gescheiden tonen van collecties.

Aanpasbaar Context beeld

Het Context view, het middengedeelte van Amarok, kan automatisch informatie van internet ophalen en weergenven over het nummer dat Amarok aan het afspelen is (zoals covers, songteksten of Wikipedia informatie). Dit is een van de unieke eigenschappen van Amarok.

Meer Internet Diensten

Amarok opens the gateway to a rich multimedia experience on the Internet.

Sporting interfaces to services such as Ampache music servers and mp3tunes lockers, it allows you to listen to your music from anywhere in the world.
You can sample and buy music from Magnatune.
Using the Jamendo service, you can listen to and download music from independent artists who can be supported by your donations.
With integrated last.fm functionality, you can scrobble your tracks, use last.fm features like statistics, charts and subscribers can listen to radio streams customized to your music taste — all from Amarok.

And that is just the beginning — you can add even more Internet services using the Script Manager.

Script Beheer

Scripts are add-ons that allow you to extend Amarok’s functionality in innovative ways. Using the Script Manager, you can manage these scripts in that it allows you to install/remove or enable/disable scripts you already have. You can also use the Get More Scripts feature to download new scripts submitted by other users.

Cover Manager

You can browse through your music collection using the nifty Cover Manager that displays the album art, download covers from various sources or let Amarok check automatically for covers in the internet.

Rating and scoring

You can show your love for the songs by rating them. Amarok supports ½⋅✩ ratings, too. In addition, Amarok can calculate a score (a sort of guessed rating) depending on metrics such as how often you listen to or skip a song.

Pop-Up Dropper

This is an innovative interface that offers contextual options (such as the ones you see in a right-click menu) that you can "drop" a song into. Grab a track and see the Pop-Up Dropper appear in the context view pane!

Configurable Playlist View

The currently loaded playlist is highly configurable and can show information about the songs in any form you like. If you are used to the Spreadsheet View found in Amarok 1.x series and other music players, you can have that, too! The Playlist View also allows you to save or export the current playlist.

Dynamic Playlists

Amarok allows you to create weighted random playlists that adhere to various criteria exactly (Proportional bias) or approximately (Fuzzy bias). For example, you can create a playlist that will be randomly populated by songs that are rated more than 3 stars and are approximately from around the year 1967!

Replay Gain Support

Amarok supports replay gain tag information embedded in files and automatically adjusts the overall volume of the song to a common level.

Hints, Tips and FAQs

If you find that most of your music is recognized by Amarok, but some folders are not properly picked up, open a console and type

touch folder

where folder is the path to the folder that has the problem. Then select Settings -> Configure Amarok in Amarok main window menu, and open Collection -> Rescan Collection page. Your folder should be visible again now.
