Eine Live-CD erlaubt Ihnen, die in der Regel aktuelle stabile Version von KDE und anderen Anwendungen zu testen, ohne ein Linux installieren oder Ihre bestehende Linux-Installation ändern zu müssen. Diese Distributionen starten und laufen vollständig von CD und ändern nichts an Ihrer Festplatte. Sie können daher auf einem Windows-Computer ohne Risiko ausprobiert werden. Alle aufgeführten CDs sind frei zum Download verfügbar.

Die One Edition von Mandriva Linux ist eine Live-CD
Kubuntu LiveCD
Eine Live-CD-Version von Kubuntu Linux, Ubuntus KDE-Bruder.

Basierend auf dem kommerziellen Linux von Red Hat, wird Fedora manchmal als eine "Gemeinschafts-Version" bezeichnet. Die Live-CD bietet auch die Möglichkeit einer Installation auf der Festplatte.
Mepis
Basiert auf Debian, Kudzu von Red Hat. Die Live-CD bietet auch die Möglichkeit einer Installation auf der Festplatte.
Morphix KDE
Basiert auf Knoppix. Spezielle Versionen wie LiveKiosk und Asterix PBX sind verfügbar.
PCLinuxOS
Based on Mandrake (now known as Mandriva).
Slax - Live CD
Based on Slackware. 8cm CD-R. With modular structure and pseudo read-write CD filesystem.
OpenSUSE Live-CD
It allows to try OpenSUSE with KDE SC and install it to hard drive.
Sidux
sidux is an operating system based on the Linux kernel, Debian's branch (called "Sid") and many free and open source applications.
New Live CDs and DVDs are becoming available all the time. If you've heard of a distro and think you'd like to try it, do an Internet search for it. You may well find that a Live CD is available.
