When a printer is not attached directly to your computer with a USB cable, you will need to use the Printer Configuration utility to add the printer, such as when another computer has shared a printer, or you want to connect directly to a printer that is networked with a print server.

  • KDE Kickoff -> 計算機-> 系統設置-> Printer Configuration

  • 我選擇適合HP/打印服務器的AppSocket/JetDirect。


  • 我在主機（Host）輸入IP 地址（現在，Printer Configuration 工具不能自動識別，所以你需要詢問你的網絡管理員了解具體的IP 地址）。
  • 選擇製造商（我這個是 HP）
  • 選擇模式（model）（HP 有很多模式）
  • 選擇推薦的驅動除非你有理由做其他選擇。
  • 因為“printer”這名稱容易混淆，換個容易分辨的名字。
  • 編寫描述，如果打印機不在你的房間內容的話，寫上物理地址。
  • “位置”默認設成你的電腦主機名以免你遲點要再共享一次。 「共享」是printer configuration 的選項之一。

在「設置」畫面，因為打印機已經“插”到電腦上，你現在會看到一台新的“本地打印機”。如果有多台打印機的話，你還得設定一個作為默認打印機。如果你有個小型打印機直接掛到你的電腦上，你應該不會去想要將部門經理辦公室裡的大型高速打印機/複印機設為你的默認打印機吧。
