Message definition (Kopete/Jabber/Useful configuration hints)

Clicking on <menuchoice>Behavior</menuchoice> opens a quite detailed set of configuration. The most interesting ones, that can be found in the tab <menuchoice>General</menuchoice> are <menuchoice>Message Handling</menuchoice> and <menuchoice>Initial Status</menuchoice>. The first one decides if incoming messages from your contacts open instantly a new window or if they are queued until you open '''Kopete''' yourself. The second one tells '''Kopete''' if it shall go online when you start the program. When you set this, you are always available for your contacts once you run '''Kopete'''. The tab <menuchoice>Events</menuchoice> lets you set in what cases '''Kopete''' notifies you via your computer's notification system (in most cases '''KNotify'''). When you want '''Kopete''' to set your status automatically to "Away", open the tab <menuchoice>Away Settings</menuchoice> and enable the first checkbox. You can set the time that has to pass after your last action (keyboard input or mouse movement) that '''Kopete''' will set you as "away". The default value is 10 minutes. Options located in <menuchoice>Chat</menuchoice> are again self-explanatory and already set to useful values.

На сторінці Поведінка наведено доволі багато цікавих налаштувань. Серед найцікавіших ті налаштування, які можна знайти на вкладці Загальне: Обробка повідомлень та Початковий стан. За допомогою першого можна визначити, будуть вхідні повідомлення від ваших контактів відкриватися негайно у новому вікні чи їх буде поставлено у чергу до часу, коли ви відкриєте вікно Kopete. За допомогою другого пункту ви можете вказати Kopete, чи слід програмі з’єднуватися з сервером обміну повідомленнями одразу після запуску програми. Якщо ви позначите цей пункт, ви зможете розпочинати спілкування одразу після запуску Kopete. За допомогою вкладки Події можна визначити перелік подій, про настання яких Kopete сповіщатиме вас за допомогою системи сповіщення середовища (наприклад, KNotify). Якщо ви хочете, щоб Kopete автоматично встановлювала стан «Немає на місці», відкрийте вкладку Параметри відсутності і позначте перший пункт. Ви можете вказати час, який має пройти з часу останньої дії (натискання клавіші або пересування миші), щоб Kopete автоматично встановила стан відсутності. Типовим значенням є час у 10 хвилин. Пункти вкладки Балачка очевидні, для них встановлено доволі прийнятні значення.
