If the same-track-transition can't be applied by the shortcut u or by click on the "mix" icon or on the bottom left the message appears "Not enough frames at clip end to apply the mix”: The clips need at the cut position a half of a second spare frame. So shorten the clips on both sides at the cut by half of a second.
