Not only does "Discover" not compete with CLI apps (as the article states), but neither does Discover compete with GUI apps such as "Synaptic" at all. "Synaptic" and e.g. "Packagesearch" give users far more control and functionality. Discover is limited and leaves users with pretty little information about what it is that Discover is doing.
