这个软件用来设定 PPP (点对点协议，Point-to-Point Protocol)联网。用来设定手机 "调制解调器（modem）"联网很有用。也用于设定真实的调制解调器（modem）联网。但现在 NetworkManager 套件也计划实现 PPP 功能，终有一天，会让 KPPP 过时。
