User talk:Hannie

From KDE UserBase Wiki

Hi, Hannie. Glad to see you are experimenting with translations. Please don't use existing pages, like the Template:I18n/Language_Navigation_BarFoo_(nl) though. You can either work directly on the page Welcome_to_KDE_UserBase_(nl) (is Dutch really not on the language bar? I don't see it!) or you can work on your own user page until you have a page ready for moving to a final destination.

The translation system will change shortly. At that point the only languages visible on the language bar will be those where a translation (or at least a partial translation) exists. However, any work done prior to the tool move will not be lost. It can easily be copied into place. The current language bar will disappear to be replaced by the new one.

One tip - you used a top-level heading '='. The convention in mediawiki is that you never use that level, as the page title uses it. Your main headings, then should start at '=='. --annew 17:48, 2 May 2010 (UTC)

Hannie, if you use the 'Translate this page' link, it creates a new page as you translate, and adds a link to the new language bar (creates the language bar if yours is the first language to be added). Using that method I created http://userbase.kde.org/An_introduction_to_KDE/nl and pasted in your translation. I've done the links, too, and the category statement, so you can use that as a template. The bits you didn't translate may need some attention. I don't speak Dutch, so I don't know how good they are. I'll leave it to you to edit them. If you have any problem with that, let me know. I'll be removing the old page now, as it won't be needed again. That, by the way, is how I'm going to know when the old language bar can be removed completely - when all links are red, it goes :-) --annew 21:42, 9 June 2010 (CEST)
