ICQ er et proprietært program til instant messaging, som oprindeligt blev udviklet af det israelske firman Mirabilis. Det bruger AOL's netværksprotokol OSCAR til at sende tekstbeskeder. For at identificere folk bruger det et tal kaldet UIN (Unified Identification Number). For at opretter en ICQ-konto skal du angive en e-mail-adresse. Nogle ICQ-klienter understøtter login med denne e-mail-adresse i stedet for dit UIN (dog ikke Kopete).
