Disse indstillinger bruges ofte til at forbinde til et Wi-Fi- eller Ethernet-netværk, men har også mange andre funktioner, som at oprette et Wi-Fi-hotspot, opsætte en mobil bredbåndsforbindelse (hvis hardwaren er kompatibel) og forbinde til forskellige VPN-tjenester.

Since Plasma 5.15, Plasma support Wireguard VPN tunnels, when the appropriate Network Manager plugin is installed.^[1]

This KCM use NetworkManager as backend, a tool developed by RedHat.
