Quanta e Kdevelop utilizzano Alt + Sinistra, Alt + Destra. Comunque Shift + Direzioni ha il vantaggio di essere raggiungibile con una mano praticamente su tutti i layout di tastiera, mentre i tasti Alt sono a volte presenti solo sulla sinistra della tastiera (per esempio in Germania).
