Kaffeine has been very useful as digital TV. It supports multiple devices and has been able to record multiple channels (from two tuners / streams) simultaneously. Kaffeine is a single application which is good.

If Kaffeine is unmaintained, I still would like to see the digital TV part to continue. Some improvements would be good to have:

(1) Implement a step-frequency scanner to DVB-C for scanning the streams and channels. This exists in DVB-T side. Now the tuning is relying in some database in the net. Most simple and always working tuning is done by scanning the frequencies.

(2) Now DVB-T tuning can be done only once. Scan button is disabled after the first scan. I have a portable antenna and some streams comes better with different antenna position. To tune streams from multiple antenna positions requires multiple scannings, which is now impossible.

(3) TV-program data is not shown correctly. Sometimes some streams show only 3 or so days while other streams show more days.

What are alternatives to Kaffeine TV? A possibility to record is needed. Is anyone willing to maintain Kaffeine or only the digital TV part of Kaffeine?

Hi Anahuj

Thanks for your comments. However, this is not a good place for them - it is not very likely that they will be seen by anyone (other then wiki editors :-). You would be better of posting on KDE discuss. Claus chr (talk) 09:15, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
