The KDE Desktop

This is the basic KDE desktop. These applications are common programs usually found in base KDE installations. They provide core desktop environment functionality. These KDE base programs allow users to operate, manage and control their desktop and programs easily and flexibly.

The Applications

	KWin KDE's reliable and flexible window manager, now with 3D effects.
	Plasma The KDE desktop shell and workspace, providing both the desktop and the panel.
	Dolphin An easy to use file manager.
	Konqueror A file manager, web browser and universal file viewer.
	System Settings The new control center for KDE
	KWrite A simple text editor.
	Kickoff Kickoff is the default application launcher in KDE 4.
	Lancelot Lancelot is a powerful application launcher for KDE 4 which also allows launch menus to be placed on the panel.
	KRunner KRunner includes the functionality of "power launchers" like Katapult as well as desktop search and even a calculator.
	Konsole A tabbed terminal emulator allowing the use of several shells or profiles.
