Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Now all we need is someone knowledgeable about MIDI to step up and write new content :-) If you could do it, it would be very much appreciated.

This page hasn't changed since 2010. It has become obsolete. Qsynth does not connect to jack, rather it tries to create a jack server. Maybe fluidsynth worked a decade ago. QjackCtl now controls jack. None of the applications listed herein are aware of QjackCtl.

New page:

  1. /etc/rc.d/rc.pulseaudio stop or killall -9 pulseaudio
  2. QJackCtl - Start
  3. QjackCtl - Run
  4. Open jack-aware MIDI application (VCV Rack, for example)
