Hi Sdx

Thank you for your contributions.

I have made some changes to the Digikam/Tutorials. I have tried to maintain as much of your changes as I could reasonably do - no text has been changed, but some item have been moved around a bit. This was done to avoid giving our translators unnecessary problems, and to keep translated pages from being disrupted too much - for some languages it can be quite a while before anyone revisits the translations.

First of all, the translation system uses the translation unit tags (the <!--T:nn--> tags) for its bookkeeping, so it is important that we never mess with those!

We can move whole units (including the tags) around - they don't need to be in any particular order. That way the translations of that unit will be moved similarly. We can add new paragraphs anywhere - they will get a new unit of their own. With existing units, however, we try to be somewhat conservative. This doesn't mean that they must never change, only that we consider whether the proposed change is important enough to justify the disruption it will cause to existing translations of the page and the extra work for our translators.

Keep up the good work. If you have questions or need help please don't hesitate to ask.

About Digikam/Tutorials There are translations of that page! (click on the small downward triangle next to English and you'll see). I don't think it is ever a good idea to delete translation tags, but if at some point you come across a page with translation tags but without any translations we could perhaps try it out.

If I understand you correctly, you want to move some sections - this is no problem, as long as the tags move along. If you want to completely rewrite a section (and possibly move it) you can delete the old section along with its translation tag.

Have a look at the Note that you moved. I put the old translation tag back in front of the moved content. That way you get to move the info box without messing up translations.
