    Long Page Names

    the Index page shows "Kdenlive on other Desktops and Operating Systems" and it is currently linked to Kdenlive/Manual/KdenliveOnOtherPlatforms. In this case there will be enough to add the anchor <span id="Kdenlive on other Desktops and Operating Systems"> The general concern is that links should refer to Kdenlive/Manual/KdenliveOnOtherPlatforms#Kdenlive on other Desktops and Operating Systems

    Special Tags

    <code>6 feet in meters</code> will output <code class="output">1.8288 m</code>.

    6 feet in meters will output 1.8288 m.

    Section links need to be anchored like this:

    <span id="Working_with_Languages"></span>

    Close the translate tag before the span id and re-open afterwards
    Don't forget to add an empty line after the ID

    {{#UseLiquidThreads:1}}
    {{:Special:PrefixIndex/{{FULLPAGENAME}}/}}

    <s>this should strike through</s> this should strike through

    Avoid using text smilies as they cause problems for translation applications. Instead use {{Smiley}} Other smilies can be found on [Commons Wikimedia] and the file-name is sufficient to get the image included}}

    {{Special:ContributionScores/10/7}} displays the contribution score tables on a page

    For example of using citations, see Digikam/Lens_Distortion

    <blockquotes></blockquotes>

    This tag is used when quoting from another site or page. It uses a proportional italic font

    Old-style code display

    Code Display

    kwrite ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/Welcome.msg

    “for images that contain substantial areas of constant color a linear
    histogram will often be dominated by a single bar. In this case a logarithmic
    histogram will often be more useful.”

    Warning

    These are deprecated. Use {{Input} and {{Output}} templates instead

    Using syntaxhighlight

    {{Input|<syntaxhighlight lang="php" line>
    # Initialise common code
    $preIP = dirname( __FILE__ );
    require_once( "$preIP/includes/WebStart.php" );
    </syntaxhighlight>}}

    will result in

    # Initialise common code
    $preIP = dirname( __FILE__ );
    require_once( "$preIP/includes/WebStart.php" );

    For plain code, use "lang="bash" "

    Display category without linking to category

    To link a category page within a page as a normal wiki link (without adding the page to the category), prefix the link name with a colon. For example: [[:Category:Not in this category|Display Label]] from Wikimedia Help

    Enumerated Lists

    Standard wiki markup results in

    1. First item
      1. First sub-item
      2. Second sub-item.

    To improve display, a new class has been introduced.

    {{Input:1=<div class="manualtoc">

    1. First item
      1. First sub-item
      2. Second sub-item</nowiki>

    }}

    which results in

    1. First item
      1. First sub-item
      2. Second sub-item

    Breaking down enumerated lists for translation

    Lists like

    # [[Special:myLanguage/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Enhancement/Denoiser|Denoiser]] # [[Special:myLanguage/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Enhancement/Nikon D90 Stairstepping fix|Nikon D90 Stairstepping fix]] # [[Special:myLanguage/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Enhancement/Sharpen|Sharpen]]

    can, if more than two or three deep, cause problems for translators. Resolve this by adding translate tag pairs around each list item, viz:

    <translate># [[Special:myLanguage/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Enhancement/Denoiser|Denoiser]]</translate> <translate># [[Special:myLanguage/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Enhancement/Nikon D90 Stairstepping fix|Nikon D90 Stairstepping fix]]</translate> <translate># [[Special:myLanguage/Kdenlive/Manual/Effects/Enhancement/Sharpen|Sharpen]]</translate>

    Previous and Next

    To make the links to the pages look less ugly you can provide extra options to the template:

    {{Prevnext|Article/section/previous-subsection|Article/section/next|This points to the previous section text|This is the next section}}

    This will be rendered as

    Image Issues

    On some pages sections tend to run together. This is caused by long images placed besides short text sections. Solution: place < /translate><br style="clear: both;"/>< translate> after the troublesome section. This also works with docbook. See Amarok/Manual/AmarokWindow/PlaylistPane ==Reporting== NB: <nowiki>{{PAGENAME}} returns the page name without prefix. For this page it returns "Namespace". {{FULLPAGENAME}} returns both namespace and pagename; for this page, that is "Help:Namespace". (From http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Namespace#Custom_namespaces)
